the second law

she writes time's arrow

across the wall

slow tree furns

suddenly unfurling

the council lower

the EU flag

from over the allotments

a parliament of rooks

in the highest branches

riots, resistance

and revolt in the castle

of my skin

autumn leaves

on a sinking ship

four light years away

the white star turns

twenty-two times

I catch a snowflake

on my tongue
