Andrew Lacon (UK) Lives and works in Birmingham
Andrew Lacon (b.1985, Dudley) is based in Birmingham, having graduated from the Royal College of Art, London, in 2011. Lacon has long been interested in how public displays of objects can explore relationships between national culture, social class and artistic intention, and his most recent DCA solo exhibition considered these ideas by focusing on one single raw material now synonymous with the history of art and architecture: marble.
Lacon has entered a period of research into South America with residencies including Cirrre Residencias Sala_Taller in Uraguay, URRA w/ Gasworks in Buenos Aires and SOMA, Mexico City DF (Mexico)
Other residencies have included; The New Art Gallery Walsall, (UK) Bauhaus, Dessau (Germany) The Guangzhou Library (China)
and Henry Moore Institute, Leeds (UK)
